Lets Move Physical Therapy - Las Vegas

Dr. Jaclyn Rabito here with Let’s Move Physical Therapy, in this video I cover proper body mechanics.

I give you examples by raking in a stall. It can also be applied to any type of gardening or moving sand or small rocks in your yard. Any time you have to use one of these types of rakes, mops, or brooms.

Personally I usually put my right arm down and I keep my body straight. I make sure I’m not twisting so much.

I make sure to switch the sides of my body up and to be mindful of my twisting. See the video above for more information.

What are proper body mechanics?

Proper body mechanics refers to the way we move as we carry out our day-to-day activities. It involves the way the muscles, skeleton, and nervous system coordinate. To ensure that the right posture and body alignment are maintained.

Poor and improper body mechanics are the major cause of back problems, pains, and injuries. Poor posture, moving things incorrectly and lifting objects improperly cause the spine to be subjected to stress. That —with time— could result in its tear and wear. For these reasons, it is essential that we learn about the principles and guidelines that govern proper body mechanics. Trainingcor.com

I love being a physical therapist because I enjoy helping people get to their maximal potential especially when they have to see so many other healthcare providers and are looking for someone to bring them hope in a realistic fashion, just like my physical therapist did for me.
